As the flocks grow, it’s easier to just combine them now instead of trying to capture the two groups separately.

The Fourth Flock turned 20 weeks old this past Tuesday, and the Fourth-and-a-Half Flock turned 16 weeks yesterday. They ended up on full layer feed earlier than anticipated due to a brain-fart on my part, not covering their chick feed and it getting rained on. Then, they were transitioned over from crumbles to pellet feed. It seems they are either not wasting as much feed now that it’s not in crumbles for them to scatter all over creation, or they aren’t eating as much…hard to tell.

But they all still look and act healthy!

We are up to at least THREE girls from the Fourth Flock laying; I’m betting that it is all three of the Dominiques, since I caught one in the act a couple weeks back. I could be wrong, of course, but I haven’t been out there much in the late morning/early afternoon hours when they are nesting.

Lyta and Delenn are still the fluffiest girls on the block, making them look a lot larger than the Americanas in the background (Daisy, Edith, Violet, and Anna – I think).

Get them all bunched up and you can see that the younger girls really aren’t that much smaller than the rest anymore.

Anna, Cora, Edith, Daisy, and Mary stayed together long enough for a partial group shot – Violet came strolling by just after I snapped this one (lots of blurry photos were left out of this post!).

I honestly don’t know if this is Chianna or River, but it’s Chianna that always seems to hang out with Jadzia, and I think that’s Jadzia behind her. (Not sure who is off to the left…it might be Violet).

Over in the big run the old gals are scattered all about – Thing 1 is up front. I was trying to catch a good shot of Willow’s tail feathers – she’s always had such a huge display that, when she was still young, I half-wondered if she would turn out to be a roo. Luckily she did not. Nugget is behind the post, and I have no clue which of the Buffs is showing off her fluffy butt here.

Willow and Dawn have learned that they can get in on the separate dish of treats in the mornings and evenings that I put aside for Lil’-Half-Blind-Girl if they don’t crowd her out or pick on her. If they try to keep her from getting a share of the treats, they know I’ll shoo them away.

Come back next week or so to see any updates I may have on who’s now laying – or not!
